Advanced safety and security, connectivity and driving aid features
The 2019 Rogue has a number of available connected technology and smartphone integration features. New for 2019 is the innovative Rear Door Alert3 (RDA) system, which can help remind customers of items that may be forgotten in the rear seat – valuables, dry cleaning, groceries and more.
The RDA system was developed by a pair of Nissan engineers and mothers. It can help remind Nissan owners to check the rear seat by using a series of distinctive honks as the driver is walking away from the vehicle. The audio alerts distinguish the Nissan RDA from other systems in the marketplace. If the system detects that a rear door was opened/closed prior to a trip, but then was not re-opened again after the trip was completed, given the vehicle was put in park and the ignition cycled off, the system responds with a series of notifications, starting with a display in the instrument panel and progressing to subtle but distinctive chirps of the horn.
All 2019 Rogue models also include Every NissanConnectSM featuring Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, with a 7.0-inch color touch-screen display. Available as part of the Premium Package and Sun and Sound Touring Package for Rogue SV models is the NissanConnect with Navigand ation system, featuring Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, Nissan Voice Recognition for navigation and audio, SiriusXM® Travel Link® and Traffic (SiriusXM® subscription required, sold separately).
Rogue SL models offer standard NissanConnect with Navigation and Services powered by SiriusXM® (SiriusXM® subscription required, sold separately) featuring Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™.
Standard Rogue Safety Shield technologies include Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Intelligent Lane Intervention (I-LI), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) with Pedestrian Detection and radar-based Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA). Rear Automatic Braking (RAB) is added for 2019 to SV and SL grades.
Advanced ProPILOT Assist
In 2018, Rogue became the first of two Nissan vehicles (along with Nissan LEAF) to offer the new ProPILOT Assist1 system, which can ease driver workload by reducing the amount of driver acceleration, steering and braking input under certain driving conditions. To activate the system, the driver simply pushes the blue ProPILOT Assist1 ON button, which is integrated into the right-side steering wheel spoke. Step two is to set the Intelligent Cruise Control when the desired speed is reached, as with a normal advanced cruise control system.
When lane markers are consistently detected, steering assist engages and the steering wheel/lane marker icons on the instrument panel turn green. Both right and left hand markers need to be detected by the front camera. Steering assist will engage or disengage depending on the visibility or presence of lane markers, though the Intelligent Cruise Control will remain active. If the vehicle comes to a complete stop in a traffic jam situation for more than three seconds, the driver just presses the resume button or taps the accelerator pedal to begin moving again.
Tuned specifically for U.S. roads, ProPILOT Assist1 is designed to be more intuitive and user-friendly compared to other driver-assist technologies. It can potentially help lessen driver fatigue and create a more confident driving experience – especially for drivers who experience heavy highway traffic on a daily basis. It utilizes a forward-facing camera, forward-facing radar, sensors and electronic control module to help the driver stay in the center of the driving lane and to maintain vehicle speed (set by the driver) or help maintain a gap to the preceding vehicle if the vehicle speed drops below the driver-set speed. It also can slow the vehicle to a complete stop and holds the vehicle during traffic jam conditions.
Steering assist is cancelled in inclement weather if the windshield wipers are in the low or high position (if lane lines can be detected, the system can remain active when the wipers are in the intermittent mode or if the mist function is activated).
The driver's input always takes priority, overriding the system when the steering wheel is turned or the turn signal is operated (steering assistance goes into a temporary standby mode). The system also goes into temporary standby mode when the accelerator pedal is pressed. The system's Intelligent Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assistance are both cancelled when the brakes are applied.
For 2019, ProPILOT Assist is now standard on the SL grade and optionally available on Rogue SV.
Standard 170-horsepower 2.5-liter engine
All 2019 Rogue models are equipped with a responsive 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine rated at 170 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. The engine is matched with an advanced Xtronic transmission with standard Sport Mode and Eco switches. Fuel economy4 is rated 26 mpg city, 33 mpg highway and 29 mpg combined for front-wheel drive models. Rogue AWD models are rated at 25 mpg city, 32 mpg highway and 27 mpg combined4.
The 2019 Rogue features Nissan's suite of confidence-inspiring dynamic technologies with Intelligent Trace Control (I-TC), Intelligent Engine Braking (I-EB) and Intelligent Ride Control (I-RC).
Rogue also offers standard 4-wheel independent suspension, Electric Power-assisted Steering, 4-wheel disc brakes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) with Traction Control System (TCS) and Hill Start Assist.
Four wheel and tire combinations are offered, depending on grade. For 2019, SL grade comes with standard 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with 225/55R19 all-season tires. Rogue SV features 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with 225/65R17 all-season tires or optional 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with 225/60R18 all-season tires. Rogue S comes with 17-inch steel or optional 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with 225/65R17 all-season tires. Every Rogue also offers a standard Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) with position monitoring and Nissan's innovative Easy Fill Tire Alert.
Rogue is available with a choice of front-wheel drive or an Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system, which can respond and adapt to changing conditions 30 times faster than the blink of an eye. Intelligent AWD initially delivers power to both front and rear wheels for improved grip. Once the vehicle is up to speed, the system sends all of the power up front (100:0 ratio), resulting in higher efficiency. In slick conditions and tight corners, Intelligent AWD automatically transfers the optimal amount of power from front to rear, up to a mix of 50:50 distribution ratio.
